Quasar Sound Studio
At Quasar Sound Studio we specialise in analogue recording on quarter-inch magnetic tape. Our recording procedure is reminiscent of the productions made in studios of the 1950s and ‘60s.
We are committed to live, studio recordings using long-standing technologies and techniques to achieve
optimum Hi-Fidelity recordings. It is these techniques that give artists the opportunity to perform together in a live setting so that we may capture the very best performance and sound.
We believe in monophonic reproduction of sound and the final test of any recording is in the listening – we invite musicians to compare the sound of Quasar’s live mono reproductions.
Our studio is ideal for acoustic and electric recordings and we have a control / mastering room with excellent monitoring
and facilities for analogue productions transferred to digital wav files. We use high quality, professionally
maintained 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s vintage equipment.
To capture the ultimate Hi-Fidelity recordings we use a variety of RCA and Neumann microphones, a Tascam M-15B mixing console as well as Ampex and Rola magnetic tape recorders. Our piano is an 1890 refurbished ‘Julius Feurich’. We also have a vintage Hammond organ with vintage Leslie speaker.
A variety of Vox and Fender tube guitar amplifiers are also available, along with Fender, Gretsch and Ibanez guitars. An Epihone Jack Casady semi-acoustic bass and an original fender 6 bass are also available along with a Selmer Mk 6 tenor saxophone. Baritone saxophone and clarinet are also available.
All audio equipment and instruments have been serviced or restored and are regularly and professionally maintained. No compromises have or will ever be made which will impinge on the overall recording and sound reproduction. We provide services for solo artists and groups who want to record a demo, music video, an LP, EP or single. From there we can release the finished product on vinyl (45rpm & 331/3 rpm), CD or Cassette Tape.
